Motivation is easily lost but difficult to get back. Yet, it is not impossible. When times are harder or things don’t go our way, it’s easy to lose that spark of motivation. Here are a few things that can keep you going.

Set an end goal- When you have a vague goal in mind the process to reach there may seem harder. This makes it difficult to stay motivated throughout. When you know what you want to achieve from the process you will not only reach your goal but will enjoy the process as well.

Focus on what makes you happy- When you’re doing something you love or what makes you happy you are bound to be more motivated. Obviously, this isn’t always possible for example, completing a boring assignment. Focus all your attention on that work for an allotted time to stay motivated throughout.

Understand your potential- It's very easy to set a high aim and be disappointed when you can’t achieve it. Recognize your own potential and to what extent you can push yourself. Knowing how much to push yourself is important because you may crack under too much pressure.

Reward yourself- This is important because it’s often neglected. When you have accomplished a task, reward yourself. The reward can vary from person to person, it could be something like food, a videogame or some leisure time. In this way, you will have something to look forward to.

Take a break- Sometimes we need to take a step back. No, this is not a waste of your time, it will actually save time in the future. You need time to detox to maintain your sanity. Working continuously will tire the mind and body and it may show in your work.

One step at a time- When you simplify your goal and take one step at a time it makes the workload a lot easier. Piling all the tasks will overwhelm you and can result in fatigue and avoidance of doing the work. So have different segments for what you want to achieve. For example; if you want to finish studying a subject start with one chapter or answer first and avoid thinking of how much is pending.

Learn from failure- Failure is the best teacher, yet we fear it so much. Take a step back and think about what we can learn from it this extra effort will help in your improvement. If you take failure as a step back and not as a step forward then you will not be able to motivate yourself. We can be our own enemy at times by discouraging our self. If failure is taken positively then we will not lose motivation to achieve our goal.

These are ways that can help you stay motivated and push you to do your best. Losing motivation is common but don’t let it last long as it will make you slack off.

Stay Motivated, Stay Focused.
